Ganpati Visarjan 2022: (Vinayaka Chaturthi) date, time and importance

Ganesh Chaturthi is a vibrant and joyful event that families eagerly anticipate. Ganesh Chaturthi 2022 will begin on Wednesday, August 31. The shubh mahurat (auspicious time) of bringing Lord Ganesha home will start at 12 PM and last till 10 PM on August 31, 2022. This means that you can bring him home and do the sthapna at any time after 12 PM. The festival lasts three to ten days, depending on the location, and ends with Ganesh Visarjan of Lord Ganesh’s goodbye. After that, families do the Visarjan for one and a half, three, five, seven, or eleven days, depending on their tradition.

Ganesh Visarjan 2022 Dates And Time

Although Anant Chaturdashi is the most auspicious day to perform Ganesh Visarjan, many families have traditions to do it on another day during the 10-day long festival as well. Therefore, most Ganesh Visarjans at home take place on one and half-day, three days, five days, or seven days after Ganesh Chaturthi. Ganesha Visarjan can be done on the same day of Ganesha Chaturthi after Ganesha Puja. Most Puja Vidhi(s) of Hindu deities include either Visarjan or Utthapana at the end of the Puja. However, Ganesha Visarjan on the same day of Ganesha Chaturthi is less popular.

Things To Keep In Mind During Ganpati Visarjan

  • Observe celibacy throughout the 11 days of Ganesh Chaturthi.
  • Perform puja and offer bhog one last time at home before taking the idol for Visarjan.
  • Don’t shut the door close of the house when the idol is carried out for Visarjan.
  • If you have performed the Visarjan at home in a bucket, keep the bucket untouched for the next 3-4 days. After that, you can use the mud and water for your garden or even the community park.

Conclusion

The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated every year with tremendous apprehension. And, as always, we pray Lord Ganesha may shower us with blessings and remove all obstacles from our lives this year. If you are bringing Lord Ganesha to your home the first time and aren’t well-versed with the rituals, book a pandit for the Sthapna and Visarjan so that you can learn the right way of doing the Pooja.
