International Democracy Day 2022
Every year, the International Day of Democracy is observed on September 15 to analyse the state of democracy across the world. The United Nations says “The role of democracy is successful with the participation and support of the international community, governing bodies, civil society, and individuals.” In a democratic country, people have the right to enjoy the value of freedom, human rights and ensure the protection of human rights. These values are ensured by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and enhanced by the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. The day came into force after a resolution was passed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2007.
