A “restaurant on wheels” built with uniqueness and creativeness has been launched in Mumbai. the central railway has converted a discarded railway coach into a beautiful restaurant at Mumbai’s iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to provide an experience one of its kind for the diner’s.
The restaurant called “Boggie Woggie” will offer multi-cuisine food, north Indian, south Indian, continental as well as Chinese. this has been such the first-ever restaurant that is mounted on rails and located on the heritage gully near platform -18 on the Mumbai CSMT where a discarded coach has been converted to a restaurant. the heritage gull has rail artefacts including locomotives, an old printing press, cranes etc.
“The restaurant will be a fine dining experience for people. the coach was not usable and hence we decided to monetise it. this will help railways monetize railways to the tune of Rs. 42 lakh per annum,”said Shivaji sutar, chief PRO, Central Railways.
