Air Pollution In Punjab: Ludhiana most polluted in Punjab due to stubble smoke, AQI crosses 300

Ludhiana. Air Pollution In Punjab: The pollution of stubble in Punjab has made life difficult for the people. Due to this now the number of respiratory patients in hospitals is increasing. Children are most affected by pollution. Many states are troubled by the pollution caused by stubble burning these days, but farmers are not deterring. On Tuesday also 604 cases of stubble burning were reported in the state. Ludhiana is in the category of most polluted cities in Punjab. The Air Quality Index (AQI) here has crossed the 300 mark. Apart from this, the AQI of Patiala is in the poor category. Many cities are facing the brunt of pollution.

Bhagwant Mann’s home district Sangrur is the most burning stubble

So far, stubble has been burnt at a total of 33090 thousand places in Punjab. Most of these incidents have been registered in Sangrur district of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. A total of 4254 incidents have been registered here so far, which is 15 percent of the total incidents in Punjab. After this comes the number of Tarn Taran, where stubble was set on fire in three thousand places. Apart from this, farmers in Ludhiana are setting fire to stubble.

On October 18, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann inaugurated the Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant at Bhutalkalan village in Sangrur. It is the largest CBG plant in Asia. It was claimed that the management of stubble would be done here on a large scale, but these claims proved to be unsuccessful. The plant is producing 33 tonnes of compressed biogas with the help of 300 tonnes of straw per day. Farmers say that to sell stubble here, registration has to be done 10 to 15 days in advance.
