Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya has been fined Rs 12 lakh for slow over-rate in the 18th match of IPL 2023 against Punjab Kings on Thursday. IPL matches have a time limit of 3 hours and 20 minutes.
In IPL 2023, the issue of slow over rate is coming to the fore in many matches. Many matches have been completed in more than four hours. The IPL said in a press release on Friday, “Gujarat Titans’ first offense of the season under the IPL Code of Conduct in relation to slow over-rate. Captain Hardik Pandya has been fined Rs 12 lakh.
Two more captains have been fined
Even before Hardik Pandya in IPL 2023, two other captains have been fined Rs 12 lakh for slow over rate. RCB captain Faf du Plessis and Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson have also paid a hefty fine of Rs 12 lakh.
Gujarat beat Punjab
Let us tell you that in the 18th match of IPL 2023, Gujarat Titans defeated Punjab Kings by 6 wickets with one ball remaining. In the match played at Mohali’s IS Bindra Stadium, Punjab Kings batted first and scored 153 runs losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Gujarat achieved the target by losing 4 wickets in 19.5 overs.
This was Gujarat Titans’ third win in four matches and they are at the third position in the IPL 2023 points table. This was the second defeat of Punjab Kings in four matches. The Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab Kings team is at the sixth position in the IPL 2023 points table.
