Congress MLA expressed happiness after SC stay on Rahul Gandhi

Party MLA Ramesh Chennithala expressed happiness after the Supreme Court stayed the conviction of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the Modi surname case. He said on August 4 that the country’s democracy would be strengthened by this decision and the people of Wayanad would be happy as they got back their Member of Parliament. The Supreme Court on Friday stayed the sentence of Rahul Gandhi in the defamation case.

The Supreme Court on August 4, in an interim order, stayed the conviction of Rahul Gandhi in a criminal defamation case over his ‘Modi surname’ remark. Party MLA Ramesh Chennithala expressed happiness after this order of the Supreme Court. He said that this decision will strengthen the democracy of the country.

People of Wayanad will be happy

Party MLA Ramesh Chennithala said that the people of Wayanad will be happy after the Supreme Court’s decision as they have got back their Member of Parliament. He said, ‘Finally truth has won.

The people of India and we all are happy today because the Supreme Court has given justice to Rahul Gandhi. He always said that truth will prevail. Congress MLA and former Leader of Opposition in Kerala Ramesh Chennithala said, this decision will strengthen the democracy of the country and people of Wayanad will be happy as they got back their MP.

‘Truth always wins’

Following the Supreme Court’s decision, Rahul addressed a press conference at the Congress national headquarters in Delhi. During this, he thanked the people for their love and support and said that ‘truth always wins’. Truth always wins, if not today then tomorrow or the day after. I thank the people for their support.

Rahul Gandhi was convicted

The apex court in July issued notice to the Gujarat government and the complainant on an appeal by the Congress leader challenging the Gujarat High Court order. The Gujarat High Court had earlier in its order refused to stay his sentence in a criminal defamation case in which Rahul was sentenced to two years in prison by a Surat court over his ‘Modi surname’ remark.
